Daisuke Akagi, M.D., Ph.D.

Visiting Assistant Professor

Dr. Akagi is a Visiting Assistant Professor from Japan. He began working as a surgeon at Tokyo University Hospital in 1998 and obtained his Ph.D. in Vascular Surgery from the Graduate School of Medicine at the University of Tokyo in 2007. Before joining the Conte Lab in November of 2012 to study the mechanism of vascular biology, Dr. Akagi was an Attending Surgeon at Sakakibara Heart Institute. Dr. Akagi is currently working on research regarding vascular biology of attenuating neointimal hyperplasia using animal models. He is also focusing on the Resolvin anti-inflammatory pro-resolving lipid mediator as a novel therapeutic target for the management of atherosclerotic disease.
